It's Been Awhile

The days are flying by and it is surprising to me how long it has been since we've posted. Here are some pics of things we've been up to lately.

1st Semester Reward Trip to Kung Fu Panda 3
Happy Birthday Oregon Party to celebrate Oregon's Statehood. We sang Happy Birthday to Oregon, shared some edible symbols and goodies from the state we call home. Oregon State Beverage: Milk, Oregon State Nut: Hazelnuts, Oregon State Beverage: Milk, Oregon State Fruit: Pears, Oregon State Fish: Salmon, Oregon Made Cheese, Oregon grown berries and cherries, Happy birthday Oregon cake and yummy cookies. We had a fun afternoon celebrating the state we call home and sharing Valentines with our school family.
I have attached a link to a great video put out by PBS that we watched in class today that has a history of how our state came to be. Hope you enjoy.

Thanksgiving Festivities

Today's Reader's Theater, Turkey Takes a Stand, was a hit! Thank you to the classes and families that were able to join us. If you missed it, you can check out our video below.

We also had fun with our very own Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Feast and November Birthday Celebration.
So thankful for the kiddos and families I am blessed to work with. Wishing you and yours a very wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!

Empowering Others and Fostering Compassion

This week in our reading series we have been reading stories about others that have had compassion and have found ways to reach out and fill a need in communities or across the world. We have shared some AMAZING conversations and I've been so impressed with the heart of these kiddos. Today we watched the following video in class and the kids were very moved and wanted to share it with families. SO by request I've posted it here for your viewing pleasure.
I hope it sparks some amazing conversations in your home too.

Let'er Buck Memories

Cain Smith, Alex Simonton, and Ahnna Pederson came to visit and teach us about some of the events at the Pendleton Round-Up. The Hall of Fame was really cool because they showed old western movies and told us true stories. It was also fun and they let us look there and we got a guide.

Fantastic fourth grade!!!!

The first week of school was cray cray because there is music only two days a week.
Knock knock. Who's there? school. School who? We just schooled you.:)
We got 2 new people in our class. We have a great  time in fourth grade. We each have a job in fourth grade and switch after each month. Some of our jobs are Pledge Leader, Clock Watcher, Reporters, Vacation, Substitute, Personal Assistant, Vanna/Vaughn and more. We have started AR and CAFE. Next week we are going to the Children's Rodeo and Pendleton Round-Up. That's all for now.

Whitman Mission!!!

We had an AMAZING experience at Whitman Mission today and it really brought our Stout-Hearted Seven story and Oregon Trail unit to life. The Mission gift shop was not fully stocked for the summer visiting season yet and was out of the Stout-Hearted Seven books. I have had a number of students ask for them and will be looking into placing an order and will send home a note with pricing and order information if your family would like to purchase one for your family library. I will be posting pictures of our trip this evening (after the Echo Storm Youth Track meet :o)
